Bernie Hollywood OBE’s boat of hope campaign uses contactless tech to increase donations

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Goodbox, the fintech revolutionising how we give, is providing a contactless giving solution to support Bernie Hollywood OBE’s amazing Boat of Hope Campaign. The campaign is Bernie’s latest venture to raise vital funds and awareness for children and young people’s mental health issues. The 63-year-old will embark on an awe-inspiring solo row of 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean for charities, Samaritans and Love Rowing.

The Boat of Hope, in which Bernie will undertake the 60-90 day voyage, is a 6m x 1.5m Rowing Boat featuring an exterior designed by renowned artist, Justin Eagleton, who has created a mural that draws together multiple images to depict a journey of mental health. As one of the tech partners for the campaign, GoodBox, has adapted one of their award-winning contactless giving devices to help maximise donations as the boat tours the country and aims to raise £1m from the generous UK public.

The campaign is also partnering with Contactless Giving Week this December to help raise awareness of the importance of contactless giving for charities and not-profits across the UK.

GoodBox Co-Founder & Managing Director Francesca Hodgson says, “Bernie is such an inspirational figure, and his fundraising efforts have already helped so many worthy causes. The team at GoodBox are delighted to be able to support him with his latest campaign and to help maximise fundraising efforts as the boat travels across the UK.”

Bernie Hollywood OBE added, “We are so grateful to GoodBox for supporting our fundraising efforts with their amazing contactless giving tech. Having the device attached to the boat gives us a real focal point for donations and easy way for the always generous UK public to help us reach our target of £1m.”
